Trump Hoping To Ride Putin Win To Victory In 2018 Midterms

Citing a strong showing by Vladimir Putin, who won a fourth term as Russian President by garnering over 73% of the popular vote, President Trump believes Republicans will carry that momentum into the 2018 midterms and defeat the Democrats.

“People love winning, and Putin won big,” said the President. “Our many great Republican candidates out there can use Putin’s victory as a springboard to a great election. The people want winners, and you can’t do much better than 75% of the vote.”

Vladimir Putin To Attend Republican Rallies

To capitalize on the momentum, President Trump urged the Republican National Committee to invite Putin to fundraisers to stump for Republican candidates. “He has shown himself to be a proven winner, and frankly, I think members of our party could learn a lot from him.”

With the campaign season in full swing, Putin would have his pick of Republican rallies to attend. “The American people would love Vladimir,” said President Trump. “He says exactly what he means, and he is a strong leader who does not mess around.”

“He told me personally that he would be very proud to help ‘Make America Great Again’ by electing more Republicans to congress.”

RNC Considering The Offer

While inviting someone who routinely jails opposition candidates to its party fundraisers would be unconventional, Republican leadership is weighing its options.

“A hostile foreign power stumping for GOP candidates on American soil could create some backlash. However, it’s also the kind of ‘outside the box’ thinking that Donald Trump used to win the presidency, so it’s something we need to look into,” said RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel.

Said one Republican strategist: “When Republican leadership invited Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel to speak directly to congress as a snub to then-President Obama, Americans didn’t seemed to care. So, why not Putin?”

Details To Be Ironed Out

Although willing to help, the Russian President still has a country to run, so he likely won’t have much time to spend on Republican campaigning.

However, a spokesman for the Kremlin said that although the president “keeps a busy schedule, he can always find time to help American Republicans, inflame tensions between negroes and whites, and generally hasten the disintegration of America as soon as possible.”
