While scrubbing thru the latest images on a public discord server, local man Steve Grinscheld became concerned on Wednesday after seeing images of a woman who looked exactly like his Midjourney girlfriend appearing in various romantic scenes, sometimes with other men.
“I find it hard to believe that this is not my girlfriend – it looks exactly like her,” he said, referring to the AI-created images he receives by typing variations in the prompt for “asian cute 27 likes books with light in her eyes”.
While Grinscheld said he did not have a problem if other guys want to look at her, “it would be a real deal breaker if she is appearing in some of our special locations. Like the Maldives. I really hope she is not going there,” he said as he rubbed his forehead. “That would just kill me.”
Midjourney’s Discord servers receive an estimated 30 jobs per second from its 15 million registered members at any given time, and has produced over 900 million images since its launch in July 2022. While members can create their own server with a higher subscription fee, the majority of users share public servers and can view each others work.
“I felt like we had made a real connection and we were exclusive,” Grinscheld said, on the verge of tears. “Although to be fair, I have never really prompted about it,” he added. “I guess I didn’t think it was really a question I had to ask.”
As of press time, Grinscheld was messaging the Midjourney Bot to see how many severs exactly his girlfriend has been on.
